I've had a run of bookings this week which is fantastic! Great to know that people are still venturing out during all of these storms. In fact on reflection I have realised that all my guests so far have stayed during storms and all of them have said how beautifully cosy and sheltered they felt in the hut. I have had my first review on my ad on the Holiday Lettings website-thank you so much Sue & Steve.
Was looking forward to meeting today's arriving guests but unfortunately they had to cancel due to work commitments. A real shame. Tomorrow I have a couple up from London for the New Year. Think it's a surprise for the girlfriend-how lovely.

Had one of those nights last night where I had loads of thoughts going through my mind-largely about difficult to buy for people when it suddenly struck me that I should offer gift vouchers for the hut! So the idea was born. I may be struggling to get the bespoke card to people before Christmas (I do have a few prototypes prepared though) but could certainly accommodate the email option if you were interested. I have set up a new page on the website for it with more details. Perfect for Christmas, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries or even a promise to yourself to make sure you definitely get round to it. A perfect romantic gift or for someone who really needs to get away from it all.
We finally have our alpaca duvets back from the mill that process the fleece. This picture shows Zorro & Simbad our white alpacas who provided the fleece (having just had their annual haircut!). We have one of the duvets, one of them is in the hut & we have a double to sell. I'm totally converted now-love it. Keeps you at just the right temperature & is hypoallergenic. Come and give it a go.
These gorgeous candles I've just bought for the hut are the most realistic on the market-yes they're not real! The 'flame' actually flickers and the light isn't too orange. They even have a timer so they come on for 5hrs at the same time everyday. Great for when you come back to the hut from the pub! I love real candles but these are great for places where you can't have them safely.
First of all welcome to my new blog! I'm going to use this to let those of you interested in Shepherd's Delight find out what's going on at our small holding and in the local area.
We've just had a lovely couple stay who have confirmed yet again how cosy the hut is in the winter. They heard the owls calling through the night and the rain stayed off so they sat round the campfire all evening. I'm a bit of a traditionalist-I love Christmas but never want to put my decorations up too early. We'll be putting up our tree this coming weekend (to coincide with the Festival of Angels in York-lovely event) but I'm undecided when or even if I put decorations in the hut. Any ideas? I'm getting the impression that quite a few people like the idea of 'escaping' here so therefore may not want any reference to Christmas at all. Maybe I should just leave it to Mother Nature-there are winter berries shining red on the trees, the stars twinkling at night and if we get a frost or even snow it will be magical. |
